Libre Soy

So yesterday was our movie night for the week, and once again Rachel and Kent chose to watch Frozen. While Jacob was turning it on, he jokingly said to Rachel, "Do you want to watch it in Spanish?" Rachel very enthusiastically responded, "YES!" So also just as a joke, he actually turned it on in Spanish. And they kids watched the whole thing. During the movie, I kept asking Rachel, "Do you want me to change it to English now?" And every time she would say, "No, I want to watch it in Spanish." She thought it was soooooo cool to watch it in Spanish. I thought maybe Kent would complain about it or just not watch it, because he doesn't have the best attention span for movies, but he absolutely loves Frozen, and he watched the whole thing. In fact, I had to keep pausing it because he was forgetting to eat his dinner because of how engrossed he was in the movie. Rachel still laughed at all the right parts. I've seen a few things in Spanish, and I was always a little bugged because their voices are different than I am expecting, but they actually did a really good job with making the voices similar to the ones in English.

Also, Rachel discovered a new favorite food this week. On Monday night I made breakfast burritos with eggs, sausage, hashbrowns and cheese. I made a ton so that I could freeze them and we could use them for breakfasts.  Well on Tuesday afternoon, Rachel was super hungry and kept asking if we could have egg burritos again for dinner. She liked them enough to have them two nights for dinner in a row. I talked to Jacob about it and he said, "Sure, why not!" So we got out some of the frozen burritos and ate them for dinner on Tuesday. Usually when we have our movie nights we have pizza, but last night when we were preparing to have our movie night, Rachel said, "We should have a egg burrito movie night! That would be really fun!" I wasn't going to do it because we had eaten them already the 2 previous nights, but I was feeling sick yesterday all day and I had had a hard day with kids fighting and stuff and so again I talked to Jacob and he was all for it. Because it was a super easy meal that I wouldn't have to fight anyone to eat, we had breakfast burritos for the third night in a row for dinner. Tonight I really will make something else for dinner. I think it is fun though that Rachel has a new favorite food. Usually when I ask her what we should have for dinner, she always says, "Pizza or raman!" Now she chose breakfast burritos even over pizza!

19 Weeks

Well folks, I'll be 19 weeks tomorrow, so I think its time for another pregnancy update. See my growing belly?

There are things I both love and hate about being pregnant, the love part outweighs the hate part for sure though. I love being able to feel my baby move. I love when my kids want to kiss my tummy. I love that Rachel writes letters to our baby asking if it is a boy or a girl. I love that she and Kent like to play Dr. Usually I'm the doctor and they are both pregnant and I have to help them have their babies. I love looking pregnant and all the comments and about it from people I know and people I don't (that is until I'm ready to pop and random people ask me if I'm having twins. That part I don't love.) I love thinking of baby names and planning for when our baby comes. I love looking back at the pictures of my other kids when they were babies and remembering how little they were.

I'm so excited for this new little one.
When I was pregnant with Rachel, we picked out two boy names and two girl names that we really liked. We used one on Rachel obviously and then on on Kent. We are still like the girl name we picked out, but the boy name isn't feeling right to me. I keep feeling like we need to pick out a boy name in case it is a boy. We like to have the name picked out prior to the ultrasound so that as soon as we know what the gender is, we can start calling him or her by their name. Well, our ultrasound is next week and I keep feeling strongly that we need to pick out a boy name for this baby. As Jacob and I have been discussing boy names, the ones we have liked, Jacob has said that even though he has liked the names, he has kind of been having a stupor of thought when we are talking about them, as if they just aren't right, and I've been feeling the same way. I like the names we've talked about, but I can't just settle on them. We talked about a few more this morning that we liked but that we don't really know what a middle name would be.  I wonder if we are having a boy and we just haven't figured out his name yet, or if we are having a girl and that is why we can't come up with a boy name. I kind of feel like we are having a boy though. I can't wait to find for real. Not too much longer! If everything goes according to plan, I should be able to put up the big reveal next week on Friday, so if anybody reads this thing and is curious, you'll have to check back then!

Strawberry Picking

Yesterday, the kids and I, and some friends of ours, went out to a ranch about 40 minutes away from here and picked strawberries. It was sooooo much fun! It wasn't til I got home though that I realized that I didn't get a single picture. My camera was in my pocket the entire time. I was so sad about that. I usually use my phone to take pictures of the kids. My phone takes better pictures than my camera does, but my phone has been out of commission for the last few weeks so I've gotten out of the practice of taking pictures of the kids. Anyway back to the strawberry picking. The kids were so fun to watch. Rachel didn't get very much in her bucket. She doesn't have the best coordination and she kept thinking she needed to sit down to pick a strawberry instead of just putting the bucket on the ground. Kent picked tons of berries though and his bucket was full (so was mine). When we said it was time to stop, Rachel took her basket and just walked to the end of the row, but Kent had to keep stopping and picking all of the strawberries that he had missed the first time. I couldn't blame him though. It was sad to leave so many ripe red strawberries there. Between the three of us, we ended up picking 7 pounds of strawberries. I thought we would have enough to make some freezer jam, but I have no doubt that our strawberries will be gone today. I had no idea that strawberries were so much better so fresh of the vine, and they certainly didn't last very long! We are totally going to have to go back and do it again! Next time I will try harder to take some pictures!

Baby Kicking

Some good news! I started feeling our baby kick this weekend. It was a Happy Anniversary present to me from our baby. :) I love this part of being pregnant. I can hardly wait til I can start feeling him or her kick all of the time! Now it is only when I'm sitting still and even then I'm sure I don't always feel it, but I've been feeling it move once or twice a day. It makes me so happy! I can hardly wait! Just a few more weeks and we will know the gender!!! I have a feeling that it is a boy. :) We will see if I'm right. I keep thinking of our baby as a boy and accidentally calling it a boy. I know that doesn't mean anything. Probably I just keeping calling it a him because that is what our last baby is. We will be equally thrilled no matter what the gender is. When I was pregnant with Kent, I was secretly hoping for a girl, just so my daughter could have a sister to play with, but the day of the ultrasound, I was putting Rachel down for a nap, and I knew that our baby was a boy. I just knew. I had no idea with Rachel. We will see! I can hardly wait to find out though! I was going through some boxes in the garage looking for my maternity swim suit the other day (I never did find it) and saw all of our boy baby clothes and our girl baby clothes and it just made me excited to get them out and start washing them and organizing them. I'm going to have 3 kids by the end of the year! Aaaaah! I can't wait!

Feeling Sentimental

So this last weekend was my anniversary. Jacob and I have been married for 6 years!!! We have been through a lot together. 6 moves, a couple of job changes (two for me and one for him), 2 and a half kids, one deployment, lots and lots of time apart. Saturday was our anniversary and Sunday was Mother's Day. Anniversaries are days of remembering, so on Saturday we spent some time looking at pictures from our wedding. Saturday and Sunday, I got to looking at pictures of our kids just one year ago while Jacob was deployed and I was blown away at how much they have changed in just one short year. I was watching videos that we had sent to Jacob while he was gone and couldn't believe how little they were. Since Kent has been learning how to talk, I was thinking about Rachel when she was his age and I couldn't remember the learning how to talk stage with her. It just seemed like she started talking one day and never stopped. I looked at those videos and was reminded at what her little voice sounded like and how she have to learn just like Kent did. I mean, I know she had to learn, but she talked so much so fast that it was hard for me to remember that in between stage. It is also crazy for me to think that if we had gotten pregnant as soon as we wanted to this time so that our kids were spaced the same as Rachel and Kent, I would have a newborn baby right now. My tiny little Kent dude would be a big brother already. I think Heavenly Father knows what he is doing. I'm glad our little one isn't due until October. Don't get me wrong, I can't wait til he or she gets here, but I'm glad that Kent gets a little extra time to be my baby. I think he needs it. I love these sweet munchkins of mine, and I am so grateful for them and for Jacob for making me a mom. I love being a mom and wouldn't trade it for any job in the world ever. I also feel so blessed to be married to Jacob. He is such a good husband and daddy. He is always patient with me, no matter how wild my ideas or how teary my eyes, or how grumpy I can be sometimes. He is extremely supportive in my desire to home school, and in really anything I want to do. Sorry this post is so sappy and that it jumps all over the place. Its kind of the way my brain works. Anyway, I thought I would put a couple of pictures of my kids from a year ago so you could see how crazy much they have grown over the last year too. :) These are all from exactly a year ago this month.
