I'm not sure what it is about goggles, but seeing people wear them just makes me giggle. 

Kent's 3rd Birthday

Kent's birthday was so fun! It is so fun to celebrate my kids and to make them feel special!  Birthdays are the best! 

This year for Kent's birthday, Jacob took the day off from work. It was do fun to have him home, especially since last year on Kent's birthday, Jacob was in Morroco. 

We had a day filled with painting, the park, friends, cake, pizza, and to top the day off we spent the evening at the county fair. Kent had an awesome day. He can't remember how old he is though, he keeps asking me, "how old am I now mom?" 

Kent loves to play with Rachel. Those two are best friends and I love too see it. He wants to do absolutely everything she is doing. 

He has been Superman for the lady few months and wouldn't respond to Kent. Just in the last couple of weeks though he has decided he can pretend to be other people. On his list of things he likes to pretend to be are: Superman, Mario, Wilbur the pig, a dad and a baby. 

He is ALWAYS pretending and has an awesome imagination. 

He is a ginormous tease and also loves to be teased.

I love this big 3 year old of mine! 

10 months equals Trouble

Elijah turned 10 months yesterday and I think he thinks he is big enough to get into trouble now. Just look at this picture:

Today he has been going from making one mess to the next. And he complains when I clean up his messes. 

He is the funniest happiest baby ever. He loves to explore and see what things do. He loves to dump things out and he tries to do what he sees everyone else doing.

The other day, Jacob was painting our walls. Elijah found a spatula and apparently he thought it looked like a paint brush because he followed his dad and started brushing it on the wall that dad had just painted (on the wet paint).

He also likes to try to color. He sees his siblings do that a lot and thinks it's fun to make marks on paper too (and on the wall). He's only done it on the wall once. So far anyway. 

He likes to wave and clap and smile and shake his head no and scream if anyone else is doing that. 

He has two teeth and he likes to bite everyone's toes with them. He also tries to bite my nose (that's how he kisses me) with them too, and doesn't like it when I don't let him. 

I took the kids swimming today at a friends house in the ward, and he absolutely loved it. He kept splashing and splashing and then he would dip his whole face forwards into the water and taste it. 

He weighs 24.8 pounds.

He gets really sad when he has been crawling towards me and I walk away from him. It seriously hurts his feelings and he gets great big crocodile tears...instantly.

He takes two good naps a day (usually).

He slept all the way through the night once this month. It was so nice! He usually wakes up 2 or three times a night though.

Here is a picture of him where I found him behind the couch this morning. He had fallen over and was too squished to sit back up, but didn't mind too much when he saw mana looking at him. 

He puts everything in his mouth but fortunately doesn't try to swallow everything. Mostly he just holds it there until I realize there is something in there and fish it out. By the third baby you get really good at the finger swipe. ;)

He has taken 5 steps at a time but definitely prefers crawling. 

He has two moods: beaming and bawling.

Kent's 3 year old interview

1. What is your favorite color? Black. 

2. What is your favorite thing to do? To color with black markers.

3. What is your favorite toy? I like to play with mom! 

4. What do you want to be when you grow up? Ummm...Superman!

5. What is your favorite food? Mom! My favorite food is cactuses, and black markers!

6. Who do you like to spend time with? Dad and Mom and Rachel

7. What do you do really well? Play with toys!

8. What makes you laugh? When people laugh, I laugh.

9. What is your favorite time of day? When it's time to play with markers and when we read books. 

10. Who is your best friend? Rachel

11. What do you like to do with your family? Family Night

12. What do you love to learn about? David and Goliath

13. Where do you like to go? 

14. What is your favorite book? I don't know. Maybe Curious George Rides a Train, or I am Superman.

15. What are you afraid of? Goliath cause I'm afraid he will kill me, but he dies instead.

16. What is your favorite animal? Maybe my favorite animal is birds that lay eggs in their nest, and butterflies.

17. What is your favorite snack? Crackers, and cheese.

18. What is your favorite song? I Belong To The Church of Jesus Christ. I sing that in my flute.

Doing this interview with Kent just made me laugh. He couldn't give me a straight answer because he is such a tease! The other day he heard me telling Jacob that my dad always told us that his favorite olor was black because he thought it was funny and now Kent keeps telling me his favorite color is black.  He is so funny. Oh I love this funny birthday boy! 

Sooo sleepy

This kid cracks me up! When he is tired, all he has to do is hold still and he falls asleep. He doesn't fall asleep at meal time very often anymore, but he must have been extra tired at dinner time last night. 

First Chapter Book

A couple of weeks ago, Rachel read her first chapter book. This little girl LOVES to read and it is so fun seeing her be excited about books. It's fun to share something with my kids that I love so much! 

This book is an abridged version of The Secret Garden, and she's already hard at work reading her next chapter book which is an abridged version of Black Beauty.

It has been a longer road getting him to read than it was with Rachel. Not because he isn't as smart or anything, mostly just because I have 3 kids now instead of 2 or 1. I haven't been able to dedicate as much time to him as I would like. Even so, he was able to read his first book today and we are so proud of how hard he has been working on this. We had a family night on making goals and some of Kent's goals were to learn to read, write his name, and count to 20. He is such a determined kid, and if he makes a goal, he works and works at it til he makes it. I think that is going to be an essential key in homeschooling him.

Rachel's Rag Rug

Say that title 5 times fast.

Since we are taking out all of the carpet on our house (very, very, slowly, but surely), we needed some rugs. Have you looked at the prices of rugs these days? Those things don't come cheap! Since we are already making Ace and Lowes wealthy, I thought I would make some rugs for our house. I looked through my fabric stash and found an old white sheet and some leftover material from when I made baby blankets for Rachel (almost 5 years ago!!!) and thus this rug was born.

This was a super easy  no sew project. It took me about three days but only because I restarted once and I also have three lovely little helpers (one of which was teething and very very sad) and it was a great stash buster. I'm totally excited to make some rugs for the rest of the house. I just need to find some yellow fabric to match the paint I picked for the rest of our house! 

Working on the house!

Jacob has been trying to take an extra day off here and there so that we can get some work done on the house. 

Here he is taking the ugly screen thing down that separates our kitchen and homeschool room.

It's been so nice having Jacob home to help with the house instead of feeling the entire weight of it on my shoulders. I don't think I ever posted pictures of what I did in Kent's room while Jacob was gone. I will have to look and see if I can find the pictures.

Elijah's Teething (9 1/2 months)

This poor baby has been teething something aweful! Poor kid! He is usually so happy and low key, but lately he has been fussy and won't eat and just wants to be held my mom. And he wants mom to be standing up when she holds him. He hasn't been sleeping well and wakes up from his nap after just a few minutes. He's been having high fevers and just been all around miserable. It breaks my heart to see this kid feeling so yucky! 

He did finally have one tooth come in, but there are more that he's still working on, and thankfully his fever finally broke. He is acting a little more normal today but he still is acting like he has a sore mouth.

Even though it's no picnic to nurse a baby with teeth, I wish his would just all come in so he could be out of pain. I love this little guy!
