Rachel playing the Violin

Rachel had her very first ever violin recital just before Christmas, and I tried to record it, but I had a little boy sitting by me that thought it was funny to press buttons, so the recording didn't turn out very well, but I did record her playing her pieces she did for the recital another day. Unfortunately, they won't upload to this blog which makes me very sad. I may just have to upload them to Facebook or something.

 

Here is a picture of her right before her recital. Isn't she adorable? The two songs she she played for the recital are Joy to the World and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. She practiced and practiced and practiced those songs and through a lot of hard work on her part and quite a few tears as well, she mastered them. I love this hardworking girl of mine. I am so proud of her sticking to this hard thing and learning to create music.

Kent: Because of that song when grandma was drinking too much of it and she got run over by a reindeer.

Elijah's Birthday Cake

Here are some pictures from almost 2 months ago, when Elijah turned 1. This was his cake smash. It think it is so fun to see what babies will do with their cake on their first birthdays! My kids have all been sooooo different. Rachel ate the m&ms off of hers and then just wanted to eat my piece of cake instead. Kent LOVED his cake and ate as much of it as he could and then when he was full, he started throwing it. Elijah wasn't really all that interested in his cake. He ate a couple of the pumpkins but really didn't want to eat the cake. Mostly he took the pumpkins off and then put them back on and then took them off and put them back on. He liked to dig in it a little with the fork and he gave mommy a few bites, but he had just eaten lunch and wasn't really hungry I think. Anyway, here are the pictures.

Leaves

So, I was looking back on my blog this morning and realized how much I have been slacking. I was looking at pictures and posts from when Rachel was a toddler and saw how many just normal every day moments I had posted. It was so fun to look back and see those pictures and remember what life was like back then and remember Rachel the way she was back then. Each child we have added to our family has made us more happy, but also more busy. Way more busy. In being so busy, I have neglected, not only to blog about those simple moments, but also to even take pictures of them. I remember growing up and looking at our baby books. LeAnn's and Julies had the most pictures, and then each subsequent child had less and less pictures of them, until mostly all the pictures there were, were just the yearly school pictures. That is basically the way this blog has been ending up as well, but for now, I am going to do my best to post more pictures of these precious little ones while they are little. Here are a few of my Sweet Elijah boy a few months ago, playing in the leaves that fell in our yard from the pecan trees after a huge storm.

Rachel is such a good little reader, and Kent has discovered how to use that to his advantage. Kent LOVES books. If I sat down and read to Rachel and Kent all day long, they would be in heaven. Since I can't just sit and read to them all day long, Kent frequently takes books to Rachel and asks her to read to him. Other times, Rachel will pick up a book to read and ask Kent if he wants to listen to it. I often see them sitting just like this, and it makes my heart so happy to see it. I love that these kids love to read. We've been working on teaching Kent to read and he has read quite a few Bob books. It is so fun to see him learning! Homeschooling is the best!

Portales Peanut Festival

Can I just tell you how much I love this little town? This is the smallest town I've ever lived in and it is sooooo much fun! This is one of the many examples of annual activities they hold. The Peanut Festival. They had a bunch of activities for the kids to come and participate in. This one was the peanut sack race. Rachel was the only one of the kids old enough to participate.

Ever since we went to the festival (it was on a whim really) the kids have been pretending that they are going to the peanut festivel and they have all sorts of little competitions. It is super cute.
