Baby

I am convinced that Rachel is going to be such a good big sister! She loves her baby doll and tries to do all of the things for it that I do for her. She even asks me to put diapers on it and to clip its finger nails and toenails.

Show me a sign...

Rachel is signing so much these days. We show her Signing Time movies every so often, maybe only 3 times a weeks or something like that but it amazes me how quick she picks up on sign language. She can probably sign over a hundred different signs and it is so nice because she can sign a lot of things that she can't say yet so it is really nice to get more of a glimpse of what she is thinking about and its nice to be able to communicate more with her. Just like Mama

My cute little Rachel girl makes me laugh. She wants to do things just like mama and she wants to be just like mama. She watches me closer than I realize sometimes. We were playing outside the other day and I caught her watering our garden just like I do.

A few other things she wants to do just like me:

The other day I caught her trying to put my earings in her ear. Because I'm allergic to medals, I almost never wear earings, but when I do, my little one pays attention.

(This one is kinda gross.)  More than once I have caught her with used q-tips she has found in our bathroom garbage trying to stick them in her ears.

She is convinced she has a baby in her tummy just like mama and insists that I hug it and kiss it and blow on it and feed it just like she likes to do for the baby in  my tummy. I love it!

If Jacob ever gets Rachel a snack like a string cheese or something,  she says "Mama, Mama!" until he gets me one too.

When ever I am putting on chapstick or lipgloss, Rachel gets really close and smacks her lips to let me know she wants some too.

The other day Rachel was watching me get ready. I put deoderant on and she pulled out the top of her shirt and motioned for me to put some on her too. So I did, and she was happy. :)

She always wants me to put eyeshadow and mascara on her too whenever I put makeup on (which really isn't often, but she loves getting it on her and after I put it on her she always says, "Pretty."

Everytime I kiss Jacob, Rachel makes kissing sounds and doesn't stop until Jacob and I both kiss her too.

There are many other things she likes to do just like mama, but I can't think of them at the moment. She makes me realize though, that I need to watch what I do and say so that I can be a good role model for my sweet little girl.

Stop and Smell the Roses

My little Rachel girl frequently reminds me what the most important things in my life are.

For example she could have a million toys to play with but she would always rather play with her mama.

The first things she says when she is when she wakes up in the morning is "Mama? Dada?"

 She loves to share anything she has with just about anyone she can. If she is eating, she likes to share and makes sure that both mama and dada get bites of it, especially if it is a treat.

 She shares her food and sippy cup with her dolly and all of her stuffed animals.

 About a week or so ago we babysat a little boy from the ward and he wasn't used to being without his mommy so he got pretty sad. I got out some goldfish crackers for the kids to share. I would give them each one at a time, and Rachel instead of eating hers would feed it to the little boy because he was sad.

She will kiss anyone who sits still long enough to let her get close. I had a couple of friends over last week and they brought their kids (3 little boys in all.) Rachel gave each of the boys a few kisses each.

Rachel is very forgiving and it only takes her a minute to forgive and forget whatever the offence was.

She loves to play but she would rather help me with what ever I am doing whether it be dishes, sweeping or mopping, getting ready, or blogging, rather than playing with toys or books or whatever else she can find.

Rachel always always always takes time to stop and smell the roses.

 

 

 

I need to be sure and learn from my sweet little girl. Family is the most important. Share with everyone. Help when needed (and even when not). Love unconditionally. Forgive quickly and always take time out to stop and smell the roses.

Still in love

I have the cutest husband ever, can I just tell you? He has been so good to put up with me on my grumpy  days, and to deal with Rachel after I have finally lost my patience with her. Rachel has just started throwing fits and this girl is proving to be as stubborn as her mother. :s  Most days I am pretty patient with her, but yesterday it was tantrum after tantrum after tantrum. And even though I was grumpy when Jacob came home from work he was so sweet and just loved me anyway.

17 Weeks

17 weeks down, and only 23 left to go! Here is the new belly picture!
 

Our little baby this week is about 5 1/2 inches long and weighs about 5 ounces. Our baby can yawn, sense light (even though its eyelids are still fused shut), hear, get the hiccups (which I felt for the first time last night), breath, suck, and swallow. In some ways it seems I've been pregnant forever, but at the same time it seems like it is speeding by. I started feeling my baby move when I was about 15 weeks which I thought was crazy because when I was pregnant with Rachel I had an anterior placenta and didn't feel her move until I was about 20 weeks along. Some other fun news we have this week is....we finally have a date for our next ultrasound which if our little one cooperates we could find out the gender! We will find out on April 6th. I will be 20 weeks and 2 days at the time! We can hardly wait!

Rachel gets so excited when Jacob comes home from work because he lets her wear his hat! I have the cutest little girl ever!
