3 Months

  Our little Kent boy is 3 months old today!
I can't imagine our family with out this sweet spirit in it. He is such a calm happy baby! You could almost neglect him because unless he is hungry, he is super happy.
He loves loves loves being talked to. When I talk to him or play pat-a-cake with him he just beams at me.

He likes to talk. He was so funny the other day he was whining and asking to be fed, so I took him and laid him on my bed so I could lay down too. As soon as I put him down, he started grinning and talking to me and rubbing his head on the sheets. I thought he was so cute I just had to get a video.

He weighs 15.9 pounds putting him in the 84th percentile weight (a pound less that Rachel at the same age).
He is 25 inches tall which puts him in the 71st percentile for height (same height as Rachel at the same age).

He is so strong. He can roll over from his tummy to his back and has been able to for a few weeks now.
He is not a good night sleeper. He usually wakes up between 2 and 4 times a night, sometimes more.
He loves his swing, but he tries to sit up while he is in it and gets stuck kind of sideways in it, which he really doesn't like.

 

 

He is so calm! Rachel and I were playing in water one evening outside and he kept accidentally getting splashed and the water was kind of cold. He would get splashed in the face and take a deep breath and make a really sad face and then he would settle down and be happy again.

 

He likes to lay on his tummy and it is one of his favorite positions to sleep in which is way different from Rachel. She hated tummy time as a baby!
 

This is how I found him one morning when I went to check on him. Just looking around and grinning away.

 

He has the biggest happiest smiles and I love it!

He loves kisses!

He loves Rachel! When she decides to talk to him or something he just beams at her.

We haven't been able to get him to laugh yet but he just smiles and smiles and smiles. We love this little boy so much! I am so glad he is in our family.

A Treasury of Modern Mother Goose Rhymes

I recently joined a book review team and so far I think it is way awesome. Here is how it works. You pick a book from their bookstore and they send it to you free if you will read it and write your honest opinion about it. It's as easy as that! I love it!

The first book I read from them was A Treasury of Modern Mother Goose Rhymes by Lillian Rose Jensen. It was a pretty easy quick read of 54 pages and no pictures. I have always loved reading nursery rhymes and have recently been reading them to my daughter Rachel. We didn't love these quite as much as the traditional nursery rhymes, but we definitely did enjoy this book. It was fun and new and I liked the way the author incorporated things that kids growing up in our day will recognize and understand. She wrote about things like the Hickory Dickory Dock mouse watching TV, airplanes, and trips to the moon. I especially like the one about the King of Hearts who wanted to bake tarts but he couldn't find the right cake mix. All in all, I don't regret picking this book and would probably give it 4 stars out of 5, and if the author wrote more I wouldn't mind reading her work.

Catch Up

I've been having a hard time finding time to blog lately. I've started a few blog posts with pictures and never gotten around to writing on them. Here is one that has been hanging out for a while. I still don't have much time to write much, but at least I'll have the pictures up for when I want to look back on them.

This teddy bear's name is Scratch. He was Jacob's when he was a kid and Rachel just loves him! He has to sleep with her for every nap and bedtime.


Kent looks so little in this picture to me! He is growing so fast! Crazy that this was just a couple of weeks ago!

I've been experimenting with Rachel's hair. Here is a hair do I really liked on her! I love her cute blond hair!

Sick

We have the sickies at our house. My poor kiddos have had fevers and runny noses and a cough and Rachel has reported a sore throat. Jacob and I have had the sore throat part of it, and we are hoping it doesn't turn into the rest of it.

Yesterday when Rachel seemed the sickest she didn't let it slow her down much. Every so often she would start to whine and I would ask her what I could do to help her and she would say, "Make me happy, please."

Today after breakfast while I was cleaning up the kitchen, she found my phone and turned on the primary songs. She was so funny because she would get really really excited when she would hear a song she recognized. Then on the songs she didn't recognize she would be listening really hard and every so often she would laugh and say, "They said Joseph Smith, Mom!" or "They said Jesus!" "Obey!"

She is such a sweet little girl! I love that she loves to listen to the primary songs, and it cracks me up that my almost 2 year old can turn them on all by herself.
 

These are her partners in crime today. She is so funny, because she has to have all three with her!

Rachel got really excited when she heard Follow the Prophet start playing on my phone. She started laughing and then she started singing it all on her own.

She sure makes me love my job!
