One of my favorite parts of my birthday was when Rachel would randomly sing Happy Birthday to me through out the day. I tried really hard to get it on camera because it was so sweet and this was the best one I got. Its a little quite and was hard to hear because we were in the car, but here she is singing Happy Birthday.

Rain
Well, it's monsoon season here in Tucson and while we have seen tons and tons of thunder and lightening, we haven't seen all that much rain. When the storm clouds start to roll in and we start hearing thunder, we have been opening our blinds so we can watch the lightening and see if it starts to rain. Every time we do this, Rachel sits and watches out the window and says to me, "Please rain? Please?" Every time I have to explain to her that I can't make it rain.
Last night we had a huge rain storm. We were outside when it started to rain and I couldn't believe how fast it rolled in! It had been a little overcast most of the day, but all of a sudden we were covered in these huge dark clouds. We stayed outside and watched it for a few minutes until it got to huge and scary to stay out in. We went back inside just in time for the power to go out. We were out of power for most of the evening. It was pretty exciting, for an evening, but I was very glad when we woke up this morning to see the power back on.
This morning Rachel kept looking outside and saying, "Rain! Please mommy, rain? Rain, please?" I told her once again that I couldn't make it rain. I told her Heavenly Father can make it rain. She looked at me and said, "Jesus?" I said yes, Jesus can make it rain too. She promptly folded her arms and started saying a prayer to Heavenly Father about rain.
I thought it was super cute that she know that prayer is how we talk to Heavenly Father, and it made me very happy that she started saying the prayer on her own. I guess we must be doing something right as parents. I love this little girl of mine.

Donut Anyone?
I know I've talked about it before, but I just love how much this girl of mine loves to share. She wants to share everything, especially if it is something fun or special. I bought a little bag of powdered donuts at the store the other week which is something we NEVER buy, but I bought them on a weak pregnancy moment. I gave one to Rachel and she wouldn't eat a bite until she made sure that I was going to eat one too. Then because I'm bigger than her, I ate mine faster. Once she saw that my donut was gone she stopped eating hers and looked at me and said, "More, donut, Mommy!" She didn't want another one, but she wanted to make sure that I was going to eat another one. She is always looking out for her mommy!

A Baby Song
The other day Rachel picked up her baby and decided she needed to sing it a little baby son. Can I just tell you I love my little girl?

Pretty
A week or so ago, I was in my room with Rachel and she was getting into EVERTHING! She was getting in the drawers, pulling everything off the nightstands, getting in the closet. She was getting into all of the things she doesn't normally get into. I picked her up and tossed her onto my bed and was getting ready to tickle her. I was about to call her a pill or something but I hesitated while I was trying to decide what to call her, so she filled in my sentance for me.
Me: "Rachel, You are..."
Rachel: "Pretty!"
Of course Jacob and I just started cracking up, so now if we ever say "You are..." to Rachel she fills it in with pretty.
I'm glad she knows how pretty she is! I hope she never forgets it! I love the self-confidence of one year olds!
