6- If you could have 3 wishes, what would you wish for?

Here's number 6. Maybe by the time I'm 30, I'll get around to answering all 30 questions!

1. I wish I could teleport. It seems like I am always wishing for this one! Especially when Jacob is gone for training or something. Think of how nice it would be if while he was deployed he could come home every night with out having to actually do the traveling, and how easy vacations would be if you didn't have to spend the 10 hours in the car first, or spend a bunch of money on plane tickets. I could see my family as often as I wanted.

2. I wish I knew how many kids I would have and all of their birthdays. It would be nice to know when they were going to come and how many we are going to have. I'm a planner and would love to have this part all planned out, and what pregnant woman wouldn't love to know exactly what day their baby was going to come so they can plan for child care and know exactly how long they have to get their house cleaned up?

3. I wish I didn't have to sleep. It would be so nice to have all of that extra time to do what ever I wanted or needed to. I still want everyone else to have to sleep, but it would be so nice if I didn't have to.

Birthday Boy

One year ago today a sweet new baby was born into our family. One year ago today I was excited and more than a little nervous. Today I couldn't be happier to be a mama to these two sweet kiddos of mine, and especially today I am grateful for my Kent-boy. My wild, crazy, sweet, cuddly, little boy. I love him with all my heart.

For Kent's birthday this year, we decided to celebrate a day early because Jacob had to work all day today.  We took some time and went to the Aquarium, went to the park, ate some cake, and just spent some time together as a family. Kent got some mega blocks for his birthday and Rachel thinks they are the best toy ever, and has declared that she wants some blocks for her birthday. (She also told me she wants a horse for her birthday as well. I think she's going to be a little disappointed.)

Some things about Kent at 1 year old:
He is a climber! I frequently find him on my kitchen table. He climbs just about everything that he thinks he can.
We are still breastfeeding, but it won't be much longer now. He is going to hate being weaned!
He will only drink cow milk if it has chocolate syrup in it, and even then he doesn't love it.
He loves to swing at the park, and he loves going down slides.
He has moved houses once.
He spent 3 1/2 months with out his Daddy while he was deployed, but despite that, he absolutely LOVES his dad! They are such good pals. I love it.

He is super busy and wiggly and wild and crazy and I absolutely love it.
He is extremely different from Rachel in personality, but they are both perfect and I change a single thing about them.
He loves to run and be chased. He thinks its the best game ever!

He is extremely curious.
He is also extremely determined. If he wants to figure something out or look at something, it doesn't matter where you put it or what you put in his way. He will get it.

He has no fear.

He throws tantrums.

He can switch his mood from grumpy to happy and back again in seconds.
He loves his sister and is very good at bugging her.

He loves to be outside. Our new house has handles instead of doorknobs and he can open up the doors all by himself. He loves the independence it gives him, but it makes it impossible to keep him corralled anywhere, and he will sometimes go out into the backyard to play all by himself. We make sure to keep the front door locked at all times.

He is an extremely messy eater.
He loves to eat almost anything that he can feed himself.
His favorite foods are fruit, and pasta.

He occasionally falls asleep in his high chair and I think it is hilarious.
He still doesn't sleep through the night. We don't nurse during the night any more, but he wakes up frequently all night long and makes Jacob and I very tired. He likes it better when I get up with him during the night than when Jacob does, and if Jacob has gotten up with him, then the next time he wakes up, instead of crying, he just calls out, "Mama. Mama!"

He has just started folding his arms for the prayer before meals, and it is the cutest thing. He puts his hands together and holds them up to show me and says, "This?"
He loves to read books with his Mama.

I was talking to Kent and telling him that it was his birthday and that he was 1 now, and Rachel came up and told him in a really sweet excited voice, "Kent you are a number!"

I am so glad we have our sweet little Kent boy in our family. I love his bright busy personality. He brings so much happiness into our family, and our family definitely wouldn't be complete with out him.

Birthday Cake

My baby is 1! I can't believe it! I'll do some other blog posts about my Kent boy and his special day later, but first I thought I'd post a few pictures of his cake.

On the first birthday, we give our kids a cake all to themselves, and Kent decided that he loves that tradition. It was cute because at first he just wanted the trucks, but once he realized that the messy stuff was something to eat, the trucks were soon forgotten.

This picture of his hand in the cake reminds me of the movie "Matilda" where Bruce Bogtrotter had to eat the entire cake. We didn't make Kent eat all of his cake, but he did a good job polishing off a good portion of it.

Towards the end, he started throwing it and flinging it around. That was when we called it quits and gave him a bath.
Oh how I love my sweet sweet little boy! Happy Birthday Kent!

St st st

So in our homeschooling, I have been doing a sound of the week with Rachel. We have a specific sound we work on every week and we have a sound wall that looks kinda like this:
Some of the word are missing because my little Kent boy CAN'T leave it alone! I had it up the stairs behind the baby gate so he couldn't get to it but it didn't stop him from trying every time we went up or down the stairs. A few weeks ago our sound was "st." Every time we went over our sound wall Kent would say "st st st." He thought it was cool to talk like us. Well the next week our sound was "nd." One morning, we forgot to put the baby gate up and I was making breakfast, the kids were playing and Jacob was still home too. Jacob heard Kent saying "st,st, st, st" over and over again and decided to look up the stairs for him.
Sure enough, Kent was at our sound wall pulling down words as fast as he could will a huge grin on his face and saying "st st st." I thought it was so funny that my little baby remembered the sound from the week before and you could tell he thought he was so big and doing things just like mama and Rachel. I love this boy!
