What do you do on a rainy Sunday afternoon? We made robots of course! I love my little Robot family!



Rachel loved the robot box, but only when someone else was wearing it. I love the crusty she is giving me in this picture!

 

 

I have such a cute robot husband! He is the one that made the robot box for us! He is the most handsome robot I have ever seen! :)

 

 

 

 

Dr Appointment today!

I had a doctors appointment today and they checked my cervix for the first time this pregnancy. I am 1 centimeter dilated and 50% effaced. Not bad considering I still have 2 weeks and 2 days to go! I know it doesn't mean much and that you can be dilated to a 1 for weeks without going into labor, but it just makes me happy knowing that my body is getting ready for this baby to get here.

Just a few things about me at 37 weeks and 5 days:

• My belly button is definitly an outie which I think is really funny because it stayed an innie when I was pregnant with Rachel.

• I am more easily irritated that I probably ever have been in my life. This baby makes me uncomfertable and unfortunately I'm not as patient as I should be. 

• Kent hasn't "dropped." He doesn't kick my ribs like Rachel did, but I have a really hard time breathing, especially after eating. Sometimes I just have to lay down on my side for a few minutes just to catch my breath.

• I am nesting. I don't really remember nesting when I was pregnant with Rachel. Maybe because I was waiting for a big burst of energy that never came. I decided you don't ever get any extra energy, you just get tired of how dirty things are.  Rachel has been really cute while I'm cleaning somthing. She says, "Yay Mommy!" "Good job clean up Mommy!" She is a good little cheer leader!

• My shirts are no longer long enough. One thing that is nice about maternity clothes is that they are made to cover big bellies. Because I'm so tall, when I'm not pregnant I have to be careful what shirts I buy so that I can keep covered. Now that I'm at the end of my pregnancy, even my maternity shirts are not quite long enough and sometimes a little of my tummy shows. Unfortunately its a part of my tummy that I can't even see, so I have to rely on my Rachel-girl to keep me modest.

• Starting this last week I wake up at least 2 times a night to get up and go potty. (Before that it was just once a night.) Thankfully I don't usually have too much trouble getting back to sleep, but I still dread climbing out of my nice soft bed during the night. It is a lot harder to get out of than it used to be. 

Thats about all I can think of at the moment. I wonder when this little one will make his appearance. We can hardly wait to meet him and have him join our little family!

Let's go Swimming

Since becoming pregnant here in Tucson, I have had a lot of people tell me that once you are pregnant once through the summer here you will plan your pregnancy around the summers next time because it is miserable.

Personally, I think being able to go swimming while I'm pregnant is totally worth being pregnant while it is so hot. Rachel and I have been loving loving loving swimming at the pool here on base this summer. I wish it was easy to get pictures of her wearing her little floaties and swimming in the water, but since its usually just the two of us going swimming I haven't been able to get any. Rachel asks to go swimming almost every day, and if it weren't monsoon season here we probably would go everyday. 

I decided to snap a few pictures of us getting ready to go because it's something we have been spending so much time doing this summer. I love the weightless feeling that I get in the water and I love how good my body feels for a few hours afterwards. I also love how well Rachel sleeps after we have gone swimming! :)


We took these pictures a little over a week ago when  I was about 35 weeks along.

Pancakes

One of Rachel's favorite things to do is to get spoons and bowls from the kitchen and pretend to feed me and her babies things. I find these little baby spoons all over my house because they are the easiest ones for her to reach and get out of my silverware drawer.
 

 

Also if she is playing with one of her dolls or stuffed animals when she needs to go potty, they have to come have a turn going potty too.  

On the fourth of July, Jacob and I were cleaning out our extra bedroom to get it ready to be Kent's room when he comes. It had kinda turned into a "we don't know what to do with this so lets put it in here and shut the door room," so it was quite a project to clean it out. Something Rachel found while we were going through things are this reusable nursing pads. She has no idea what they are really for, but she quickly determined that they looked like pancakes.
She now carries them around with her and feeds them to her babies, or me, or even Jacob. It cracks me up that she has taking over these nursing pads and that they are now pancakes. They are seriously one of her favorite things to play with now.

Baby Blanket

For my birthday last week Jacob gave me some money and took me shopping to JoAnn's. He knew I had been wanting to do some sewing projects but I have a hard time justifying spending money on things we don't absolutely need. 

So our new baby's name is going to be Kent, and just to clarify, we are not naming him after superman. We are naming him after an inspirational talk we heard and loved called, "The Difference One Can Make." And although we aren't naming him after Superman, I just had to make him a Superman blanket.

It was only my second time attempting to applique something and while this blanket definitely has its "wowies" as we like to call them, I think it turned out pretty good! I can hardly wait til baby Kent comes and we can snuggle him in it!

Rachel loves it too! She has been loving being snuggled in it. We've made it very clear to her though that it is for baby Kent. 

 

Rachel has been super cute. Kent gets the hiccups all the time, and when he does, oftentimes I will put Rachel's hand on my tummy so she can feel him  have the hiccups. The other day Jacob was helping Rachel say the prayer for our dinner. He was helping her say thank you for all of the members of our family and before he could get to Kent, Rachel said, "Thank you, baby hiccups!" It was super cute and we couldn't help  but chuckle a little. I sure hope she loves this little baby as much when he comes out!
